Salt Attack
Damage to masonry caused by salt crystallization within pores, leading to surface spalling and deterioration. Salt attack occurs when soluble salts from groundwater, de-icing chemicals, or the masonry materials themselves migrate through the wall and crystallize, creating internal pressure that breaks down the material.
