We Assess the Problem
We inspect the damage, identify what caused it, and plan the fix. No shortcuts—just a clear path to doing it right.

Brick damage doesn't fix itself. Spot these warning signs early to avoid expensive repairs later.
Visible lean indicates foundation failure or soil settlement. Chimneys weigh thousands of pounds—collapse risk is real and dangerous. Rebuilding is safer and more economical than attempting structural repair.
Cracks running through brick courses—not just mortar joints—mean the masonry has lost structural integrity. Patching cannot restore strength; water entry accelerates deterioration and causes collapse risk.
Gaps opening between chimney and house wall show the structure is pulling away. This creates water entry points, allows heat escape near combustibles, and signals imminent structural failure.

Chimney rebuilding means taking down part or all of an existing chimney and constructing it new—with proper materials, modern techniques, and current code compliance.
Not every damaged chimney needs rebuilding. But when deterioration is extensive, the foundation is compromised, or the cost of piecing together repairs exceeds rebuild cost, starting fresh makes sense. You get a structurally sound chimney with a full warranty.
Major structural failure
Leaning, separation, or foundation problems beyond repair scope.
Extensive deterioration
Damage throughout the chimney makes piece-by-piece repair uneconomical.
Fire or storm damage
Hidden internal damage requires full reconstruction to ensure safety.
The original crown was cracked and the decorative chimney pots had deteriorated. We poured a new concrete crown and sourced custom terracotta pots to match.

Different brick problems call for different repairs. We look at the damage and recommend the lightest fix that actually solves it—nothing more, nothing less.
Take down and rebuild only the portion above the roof. Most common when damage is concentrated in the exposed section while below-roof masonry is sound.
Complete teardown and reconstruction from foundation or basement floor. Required when damage extends through the entire structure.
When the chimney base has settled or failed, we stabilize the foundation first, then rebuild the chimney on solid footing.
Incorporate a new stainless steel liner or rebuild clay tile flue as part of the reconstruction. Often required for code compliance or appliance changes.

A long-term solution when repair is not viable
A rebuilt chimney is structurally sound. No worrying about collapse, separation, or progressive failure.
Rebuilt chimneys meet current building codes for clearances, materials, and flue sizing. Important for insurance and resale.
New flue liner sized correctly for your appliances improves draft, efficiency, and safety.
New construction carries a workmanship warranty. Patch repairs on failing structures do not.
Brick and mortar matching so seamless, you can't tell where we worked.
Same trained team on every job. No middlemen, no surprises.
Drop cloths, dust control, daily cleanup. Your yard stays as clean as we found it.
Something not right? We come back and fix it. In writing.

Our chimney was leaning badly. Fix My Brick assessed it, told us repair was not safe, and rebuilt it from the roofline up. Solid work, fair price, and they cleaned up everything.
Richard P.
Had a chimney fire and the insurance company required a full rebuild. They handled the permit, matched the original brick style, and the inspector was impressed.
Angela M.
The chimney was separating from the house. They stabilized the foundation and rebuilt the whole thing. Two years later, zero issues. Should have done it sooner.

Local Expertise
Hamilton's chimneys face brutal escarpment weather—wind-driven rain, extreme freeze-thaw, and lake-effect moisture. Many older chimneys were built with softer brick that's now failing. When repairs can't save a chimney, we rebuild it properly.
Chimneys on the Mountain and escarpment edge face the worst weather—we see a lot of rebuilds from these areas.
Durand and Kirkendall heritage homes need chimneys rebuilt to match original character while meeting modern codes.
New builds include proper step flashing and counter-flashing to prevent the leaks that destroyed the original.
We believe in transparent pricing without hidden fees. Because every property is unique, we provide detailed assessments rather than generic estimates.
Partial (above roofline) costs less than full rebuild. We assess what actually needs replacement.
Taller chimneys and larger cross-sections require more material and labour. We measure and quote accurately.
Ground-level work is straightforward. Multi-story homes with limited access require scaffolding and more time.
If the base has failed, stabilization or new footing adds to scope. We determine this during assessment.
New stainless liner, rebuilt clay flue, or multi-flue configuration affects total cost.
Most residential repairs are more affordable than homeowners expect when caught early. We provide a detailed written quote before any work begins.
