When the team arrived at this St. Catharines property, the deteriorating chimney presented clear signs it needed rebuilding—the structure sat above the roofline where Ontario weather hits hardest, and it showed.
The chimney rebuild required taking down and reconstructing 12-13 courses of brickwork. Full range rug brick went in to match the existing masonry, with each course laid properly and tied into the structure. A new concrete cap went on top to shed water away from the flue and protect the fresh mortar joints underneath. The flashing—the metal barrier between chimney and roof—was repaired to keep water from getting behind the masonry.
This St. Catharines chimney is solid and weathertight. The brick matches, the cap is sealed, and the homeowner doesn’t have to think about it through another Ontario winter.
